Story Stock is Back: Saturday December 9 & 16

StoryStock is returning to the Bush Theatre tomorrow Saturday December 9th and next Saturday December 16th, bringing art and culture to children of all ages.

Children are invited to learn about stories, and storytelling, putting on their own seasonal drama.

The event takes place over two saturdays - each day has a special focus of its own.

Story Stock starts with a morning drama workshop giving youngsters the chance to create a show - and then perform it to family and friends that same day.

The Once Upon a Christmas drama workshop is aimed at 7-11 year olds and is "packed with creative games and improvisation over three hours", before the actors perform their show on a professional stage

Younger children can join in later that day, as the theatre is taken over by an interactive and immersive telling of the story Sproutzilla vs Christmas, by Tom Jamieson and Mike Byren at 2.30pm.

Next Saturday 16 December Story Stock opens at 10am with a workshop featuring a Norwegian troll called Odd.

Children aged 4-8 can enjoy finding out about Odd in a storytelling session that also includes making their own miniature grotto to take back home for Christmas.

At 11.30am, join sisters Natalia and Lauren O’Hara, who will share their new book – Hortense and the Shadow – in a workshop featuring heroines, bandits, and a touch of pantomime, before creating glittery fairytale crafts.

The lunchtime slot is filled by the School of Comedy, which brings a masterclass of improvisation to the Bush, giving everyone a chance to tell a joke or a story, sing a song, or share a poem.

Award-winning poet Jen Campbell will then share her new picture book, Franklin’s Flying Bookshop, a story about a little girl and her dragon friend, before leading a dragon-drawing workshop
Both Saturdays end with a 4pm session for the whole family, featuring an interactive re-telling of the poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, by Clement Moore.

Families can make antlers with the cast before joining in with Father Christmas’s antics, and some festive singing for good measure.

Sessions are priced from £8 to £40 and you can book tickets at www.bushtheatre.co.uk or visit www.storystock.co.uk or call 020 8743 5050 for more details.
