Should Shepherd's Bush Be a 20 mph Zone?

30mph - but for how much longer?
LBH&F is consulting with local residents on plans for a 20mph speed limit in our borough. Do you have a strong opinion on this? If so, the council is urging you to come to a public meeting on Tuesday, June 9, at Hammersmith Town Hall.

Hammersmith Town Hall
What's this meeting about?
It's all about whether our streets should have a 20mph speed limit.  Residents and local businesses are encouraged to come along to the meeting to find out more, ask questions and give their views.

Why?
Councillor Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Environment and Residents’ Services said: “We want to make H&F’s streets as safe as possible. This consultation is a chance for everyone, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike, to have their say on whether they think a 20mph limit for the borough is a good way to do this.”.

Will this improve road safety?
Apparently, yes. The council is considering lowering the speed limits to "reduce the number of accidents in the borough and encourage more people to travel on our roads without fear".

When will this happen?
If this goes ahead, the 20mph speed restriction would be enforced across the borough between 2016 and 2018.

Where and when is the meeting?
The meeting of the Community Safety, Environment and Residents Services Policy and Accountability Committee will take place on 9 June at 7pm in Hammersmith Town Hall.
